Short(er) Fiction

I can’t stop any of you, but I ask that you do not steal my ideas. Be a decent person, and don’t take what isn’t yours. Please and thank you.

I want to share these ideas with others because they make me excited and hold me accountable. If other people know, I can’t say that I have nothing to work on.

However, unlike my other idea pages, this is going to be a running list. If/when I finally write one of these, I’ll link the idea to the story (for micro and short stories only).

Micro/Short Story Ideas:

• romance where two people get to know each other from stacked balconies during the pandemic (possible twist: one of them is a ghost or one of them learns that no one lives in the other apartment)

• paranoid man keeps finding perfect squares of cardboard in his food (based on a true story)

• person buys something they know is bad for them/their body but it reminds them of someone or a time so they do it anyway

• late night hangout with friends and mischief ensues

• children of the forest gain power from a dark deity and save the lonely children from a village but the villagers think they’re kidnapping the children to sacrifice them so murder and mayhem

• person already has a crush but zoom calls bring someone else they’ve never focused on to their attention and blossoming feeling and cute shit

• group find themselves in an abandoned house/building and think they’re being hunted by a murderer but it’s all in their head and they’re completely alone (overreacting and the power of the imagination)

• two kids spend all day trying to get something from a claw machine and the person who ends up winning the item gives it to the other then end flashback to focus on adult person who looks at the item and wonders where that friend is now

• “disaster has slept in this room ever night for eighteen years” idk about a powerful child weapon thingy or something

• poltergeist trapped in a portrait attached themselves to a girl and convinces the girl the fight back against her bullies (almost murder) and claims that they’re sisters

Longer fiction ideas:

• domestic thriller told through the eyes of a child who has no idea what’s going on
